Meta Ads for Allied Health Practices

Boosting a post isn't a strategy. It's a donation to Facebook.

Meta ads for allied health are paid Facebook and Instagram campaigns that put your practice in front of local people before they ever search for help. The Practice Engine plans, builds and manages these campaigns for allied health practices across Australia, with every ad checked against advertising requirements for regulated health services before it runs.

This service is part of our allied health marketing support for Australian practices.

Facebook and Instagram ads

You've boosted the posts. The phone still isn't ringing.

Someone said "you should be on Facebook". So you hit the blue Boost button. A few hundred people saw your post. Twelve liked it. Three were your staff.

Then you tried a proper campaign. Meta asked for an objective, an audience, placements and a pixel event. You closed the tab. honestly, who has time for this between patients?

Or an agency ran it for a while. You got screenshots of "reach" and a bill, but no bookings you could point to.

The problem usually isn't Facebook. It's campaigns never set up for a health practice. Generic settings, creative that says too little or too much for AHPRA, and tracking that can't connect an ad to a booking.

What are Meta ads for allied health practices?

They're paid Facebook and Instagram ads that reach local people, then bring them back to book.

This is paid campaigns, not organic posting. We don't run your feed. We build campaigns with a budget, a target area and a clear job: get local people to know you, then enquire.

Healthcare social media advertising works differently from Google Ads. On Google, people are already searching for help. On Facebook and Instagram, they're scrolling past their cousin's holiday photos. So the ad has to earn attention and give a simple next step. That's why Meta ads for allied health lean heavily on good creative and smart local targeting.

Each campaign also needs a conversion path:

Meta lead forms open inside Facebook or Instagram and prefill the person's details. They're quick, so you'll usually get more leads, but with lower intent. Your team needs to call back fast, ideally the same day.

Booking pages send people to your website to book directly through Cliniko, Nookal, Halaxy, Splose or Coreplus. You'll often get fewer conversions, but the people who book are ready.

We often use lead forms for programs and booking pages for standard appointments, then test both.

Who it's for

Meta ads suit practices with a clear local catchment. They work well for:

  • Physiotherapy clinics promoting programs like pilates, hydrotherapy or return-to-sport. Facebook ads for physiotherapists work well with one clear program per ad. See physiotherapy marketing.
  • Psychology and counselling practices with availability. Facebook ads for psychologists need extra care with wording. See psychology marketing.
  • Women's health practices promoting pelvic health or pregnancy and postnatal services. See women's health marketing.
  • Exercise physiology and group class programs that need a steady flow of sign-ups.
  • New clinics and new locations that need local people to know you exist.
  • Multi-location groups and franchise networks that want local campaigns per site.

How it works: your first 90 days

Days 1-30: Tracking, audience and creative. We install or fix your Meta pixel and Conversions API. We define target areas and write the first creative for your approval.

Days 31-60: Launch and learn. Campaigns go live with a few creative variations. We keep what brings enquiries and turn off what doesn't.

Days 61-90: Build the retargeting layer. Once there's enough traffic, we add retargeting so interested people see a follow-up ad. Budget moves to what's working.

Ongoing: Fresh creative every month (Facebook audiences get bored fast), monthly reporting and a review call.

AHPRA-aware Meta ads, and Meta's own health rules

Social ads tempt practices into trouble because the format rewards punchy claims. Under relevant advertising requirements, your ads can't use testimonials, including patient comments or reviews screenshotted into an ad. Before-and-after images that imply a result are risky too. Wording like "say goodbye to pain for good" creates an unreasonable expectation of benefit. Any offer needs its terms and conditions stated.

Meta has its own limits. You can't target people by health condition on Facebook or Instagram. Meta's rules also stop ads from implying they know something personal about the viewer. So "Struggling with your anxiety?" is out, while "Psychology appointments available in Penrith" is fine. Meta may also restrict what data health websites can send back, which affects how tracking is set up.

So creative and location do the heavy lifting. We write ads about situations people recognise, shown to the right suburbs, with factual claims. We draft and flag anything risky. Your practice remains responsible for final approval.

Frequently asked

Straight answers before any scope.

How much should a physio clinic spend on Facebook ads?+

It depends on your catchment, services and capacity. Management fees sit in our pricing tiers above, and your ad budget is separate. We recommend a starting budget in your free Growth Brief, then adjust it once real cost per enquiry data comes in.

How long do Facebook ads take to work for a clinic?+

You'll see early data within the first few weeks, but expect 60 to 90 days before the campaigns are properly tuned. Meta's system needs time and conversions to learn who responds. Month one is tracking and creative, month two is testing, month three moves budget to what works.

Can I use patient testimonials in Facebook or Instagram ads?+

No, not for a regulated health service. advertising requirements for regulated health services ban testimonials, which includes patient quotes, star ratings and screenshots of reviews used in ads. You can show your team, your clinic, your programs and what an appointment involves. Good creative does the persuading without breaking the rules.

Can I target people with back pain or anxiety on Facebook?+

No. Meta doesn't let advertisers target people by health condition, and ads can't imply they know a viewer's health situation. Instead, we target by location and broad interests, and let the creative speak to the situation. Someone with a sore back will still recognise an ad about getting moving again.

Should I use Facebook lead forms or send people to my booking page?+

Lead forms usually bring more leads at a lower cost, but they need fast follow-up. Booking pages bring fewer conversions from people who are more ready to book. We often use lead forms for programs and group classes, and booking pages for standard appointments, then test both.

Do you manage our organic social media posts too?+

No. This service covers paid Facebook and Instagram campaigns only. We don't write daily posts or manage your feed. This keeps our focus on campaigns with a budget, a target and a measurable result. Your team is welcome to reuse our ad creative ideas in organic posts.

What is the Meta Conversions API and do I need it?+

The Conversions API sends enquiry and booking events from your website's server to Meta, rather than relying only on the browser pixel. It fills gaps caused by ad blockers and browser privacy settings. It usually means better reporting and campaign learning, so we set it up alongside the pixel.

A useful next step starts with clarity.
