Allied health website design for Australian practices

Your website is open at 9pm. Is it booking anyone?

Allied health website design is the planning, building and launching of a clinic website that makes service and booking information easier to find. The Practice Engine builds fast, AHPRA-aware websites for allied health practices across Australia, with online booking, service and location pages, and SEO built in from launch day.

This service is part of our allied health marketing support for Australian practices.

"The website looks fine. So why is nobody booking?"

You paid for a website a few years back. It looked great on launch day.

Now it crawls on a phone. The "Book now" button opens a contact form. Half your services aren't even listed. cool... but did anyone actually book in?

Meanwhile, a patient with heel pain is comparing three clinics on their phone at 9pm. They pick the one that lets them book in two taps. That clinic isn't better than yours. Its website is.

This keeps happening because most clinic sites are built to look nice, not to get booked. Nobody planned them around the patient deciding between you and the clinic down the road.

What is website design for allied health practices?

It's a website built around how patients search for, compare and book a practitioner, not just how the clinic wants to look.

Good allied health website design means a page for every service, the conditions people actually search for, each location and each practitioner. Every page answers one question and ends with a clear way to book.

Good healthcare website design also handles the boring work underneath: fast mobile pages, accessible layouts, and schema so Google and AI tools understand what you do and where.

Who it's for

We build for practices past the "just get something online" stage.

  • Physiotherapy clinics that need physiotherapy website design with separate pages for sports, women's health and hydro
  • Podiatry practices whose services are buried on one long page
  • Private practice owners in psychology, OT or dietetics
  • NDIS providers needing an accessible practice website. See NDIS website design.
  • Multi-location groups that need a proper page per clinic
  • Franchise networks wanting one template franchisees can't break
  • Practices scared a rebuild will wipe out their rankings
  • New clinics that want the right structure from day one

How it works: your first 90 days

Days 1-30: Audit and plan. We review your current site, rankings, analytics and booking data, and list every existing URL. Then we agree the sitemap and design direction.

Days 31-60: Write, design and build. We write the copy, design the templates and build in a private staging site. You review real pages, not mock-ups.

Days 61-90: Launch and settle. We set redirects live, connect booking buttons and test tracking. We watch Search Console for errors, then train your team.

Ongoing: Larger groups may need longer. After launch, many practices add allied health SEO or content marketing to keep building on the new site.

AHPRA-aware allied health website design

Your website is advertising. Section 133 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law says it must not be false, misleading or deceptive. AHPRA's advertising guidelines explain the detail.

People ask us for an "AHPRA-aware website". There's no certificate for that, just rules we design around from day one.

  • No testimonials. No patient stories about clinical outcomes, and no embedded review feeds that reuse clinical testimonials on your pages.
  • Accurate titles and registration. Practitioner profiles show correct titles, qualifications and registration details. No implying specialist status someone doesn't hold.
  • Offers need terms. A "free 15-minute chat" or "$20 off your first visit" needs its terms and conditions stated clearly.
  • No unreasonable expectations. No "fix your back pain in three sessions" headlines.

Speech pathology, exercise physiology and dietetics are self-regulated, but Australian Consumer Law still applies. We flag risks and suggest safer wording. Your practice remains responsible for final approval of what goes live.

Frequently asked

Straight answers before any scope.

How much does a new physio clinic website cost in Australia?+

It depends on page count, number of locations and how bookings are set up. A single-clinic site costs far less than a multi-location group build. Our current packages are in the pricing section above. For a scoped quote, book a free Growth Brief and we'll work out what you actually need.

How long does it take to build a new clinic website?+

Most single-clinic websites follow our 90-day plan: a month to audit and plan, a month to build, and a month to launch and settle. Multi-location groups and franchise networks usually take longer because there are more pages and more approvers. We agree the timeline in writing before work starts.

Can I put patient testimonials or Google reviews on my clinic website?+

For AHPRA-regulated professions, no. Section 133 of the National Law bans testimonials in advertising a regulated health service, and your website counts as advertising. That includes embedding review feeds that reuse clinical testimonials. You can still link to your Google Business Profile. Your practice remains responsible for final approval of what appears on the site.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I redesign my website?+

You can, if old URLs disappear without redirects. That's the most common way a rebuild hurts rankings. We map every existing URL to its new page with a 301 redirect and monitor Search Console after launch. This lowers the risk a lot, but nobody can promise rankings won't move at all.

Can my clinic website take online bookings through Cliniko or Nookal?+

Yes. We connect booking buttons to your existing booking page in Cliniko, Nookal, Halaxy, Splose or Coreplus, as a link or an embedded widget where the system allows. We also track which pages lead to bookings. We're not an official partner of any of these platforms.

Should my clinic website be on WordPress or Webflow?+

Both work well for allied health practices. WordPress suits practices wanting lots of plugins, a big blog or full hosting control. Webflow suits practices wanting a fast, tidy site with fewer moving parts. We recommend one after the audit, based on your team and who will edit the site.

Can I update the website myself after it launches?+

Yes, and we build it so you can. Your team gets a training session, a written guide and editable templates for common changes like new practitioners, opening hours and service pages. Big structural changes are easier with us, but you won't need to email an agency every time a physio joins.

A useful next step starts with clarity.
